Not much production from the rookies for the San Antonio Spurs

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Rookie Reports,Uncategorized by alleyoop on Monday 31 December 2007 at 1:50 am

The Spurs don’t have much playing time available for rookies due to the veteran make up of the team. Point guard Darius Washington has played in 18 games so far this season and he is averaging 8.1 minutes, 2.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Power forward Ian Mahinmi has played in 6 games this season and he is averaging 3.8 minutes, 3.5 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Don’t look for either of these guys to get extended minutes any time soon.

Bruce Bowen needs to get it together for the San Antonio Spurs

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Wednesday 12 December 2007 at 2:56 am

Bruce Bowen is off to a rough start to December for the Spurs as he’s only hitting 18.8% from the floor so far. He has played in 3 games this month and he has averaged 31.7 minutes, 4.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. The Spurs don’t need Bowen to add much on offense because of the great defense he plays….but….they need him to shoot better than he has so far this month.

Manu Ginobili is off to a fast start in December for the San Antonio Spurs

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Wednesday 12 December 2007 at 2:53 am

Manu Ginobili is on fire in December so far. In 3 games (1 start) Ginobili is averaging 32.7 minutes, 28.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 block per game this month. It will be hard for Manu to keep up this pace because he doesn’t play really big minutes. But, he has stepped up in Tim Duncan’s absence and the Spurs really needed him to.

The San Antonio Spurs are off to another outstanding start

The Spurs are in first place in the Southwest Division with an amazing 17-3 record which has them 3.5 games over the Hornets. The Spurs are 12-0 at home and they have won 9 of their last 10 games. The Spurs have been good on offense as they are averaging 101.5 points per game and solid on defense allowing 92.5 points per game. Look for the Spurs to continue to dominate as they have the deepest roster in the NBA.

The San Antonio Spurs are wondering if Michael Finley is toast

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Thursday 6 December 2007 at 2:43 pm

Michael Finley has been awful this season and the Spurs must be wondering if there is anything left in the tank or not. After all, Finley is only shooting 32.9% from the floor so far this season. In his first 18 games this season Finley has averaged 24.2 minutes, 7.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. If Finley doesn’t get his game back together soon he will start losing minutes.
