Manu Ginobili is off to a slow start for the San Antonio Spurs in 2012-13

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 27 November 2012 at 5:57 pm

35-year old shooting guard Manu Ginobili is off to a slow start for the Spurs in 2012-13. He has played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 23.8 minutes, 11.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is only shooting 39.7% from the floor and 27.8% from three point range so far this year, which is pretty awful. Look for the Spurs to limit Ginobili’s minutes until he starts to get hot (if he does).

San Antonio Spurs 118, Washington Wizards 92

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Game Recaps, General by alleyoop on Tuesday 27 November 2012 at 9:42 am

The Spurs shot 56.3% from the floor as they made short work of the Wizards last night. Boris Diaw (16 points, 1 rebound and 2 assists) and Tiago Splitter (15 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots) led the way for the Spurs last night. Tony Parker (15 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists), Tim Duncan (14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots), Gary Neal (13 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists), Manu Ginobili (12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal) and Matt Bonner (11 points, 1 rebound and 1 blocked shot) also pitched in for the Spurs. The Spurs are now 12-3 on the year.

The Spurs outscored the Raptors 14-9 in the second overtime period last night to finally put them away for good. Tony Parker led the way for the Spurs with 32 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal yesterday. Tim Duncan also had a rock solid game with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocked shots. Manu Ginobili (15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal), Danny Green (13 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot) and Boris Diaw (11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists) also had solid games for the Spurs. The Spurs are now 11-3 on the year.

San Antonio Spurs 104, Indiana Pacers 97

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Game Recaps, General by alleyoop on Friday 23 November 2012 at 11:52 pm

The Spurs were outrebounded 49-37 earlier tonight but it didn’t matter as they outscored the Pacers 31-20 in the 4th quarter to surge to victory. Tony Parker (33 points, 1 rebound, 10 assists and 2 steals) and Tim Duncan (22 points, 17 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal) led the way for the Spurs in this game. Manu Ginobili pitched in with 19 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots in 28 minutes on the floor. The Spurs are now 10-3 on the year.

San Antonio Spurs 112, Boston Celtics 100

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Game Recaps, General by alleyoop on Thursday 22 November 2012 at 8:18 am

The Spurs shot 58.4% from the floor and they outrebounded the Celtics 41-25, which led them to a very impressive road win last night. Tony Parker (26 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists), Tiago Splitter (23 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot) and Tim Duncan (20 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists) led the way for the Spurs in this game. Gary Neal (12 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 2 steals), DeJuan Blair (10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal) and Danny Green (10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal) also pitched in. The San Antonio Spurs sign James Anderson

Blogged under Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Wednesday 21 November 2012 at 4:25 pm

The Spurs have brought back 23-year old SG/SF James Anderson. Anderson played in 51 games (2 starts) for the Spurs last year and he averaged 11.8 minutes, 3.7 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Anderson has played in 77 games (4 starts) in his first two years with the Spurs and he is averaging 11.5 minutes, 3.7 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game, but he is only shooting 38% from the floor and 32.5% from the three point line. Anderson knows the Spurs’ system, so he could get P.T. right away if they need to put him into a game.

DeJuan Blair is starting to get into a groove for the San Antonio Spurs

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Wednesday 21 November 2012 at 4:22 pm

23-year old C/PF DeJuan Blair came into this season in Greg Popovich’s Dog House for some reason, but he has remained positive. The result is that he has worked his way back into the good graces of his head coach and he’s back into the playing rotation. Blair has played in 8 games (4 starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 17.3 minutes, 7.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. I expect that the Spurs will keep playing Blair as he has looked pretty good so far this year.

Nando De Colo is off to a slow start for the San Antonio Spurs

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Wednesday 21 November 2012 at 4:18 pm

25-year old rookie shooting guard Nando De Colo is off to a slow start to his NBA career. He has played in 6 games (0 starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 6.8 minutes, 1.5 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.3 assists per game. He is only 2 of 10 (20%) shooting from the floor so far this year. De Colo is going to have a hard time getting minutes this year unless the Spurs suffer more injuries ahead of him.

Jackson has played in 10 games (2 starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 23.2 minutes, 7.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game. The Spurs are likely going to move Danny Green from shooting guard to small forward until Kawhi Leonard is ready to return to action. Green has played in 11 games (all starts) for the Spurs so far this year and he is averaging 29.5 minutes, 11.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
